Pump applications

 

The classification of pumps in the above sections is based on the construction of the 

pump and its components. However, on the basis of the applications for which they are 

designed, pumps tend to be built differently. 

Some of the applications where typical pumps can be found are: 

• Petroleum and chemical process pumps 

• Electric, nuclear power pumps 

• Waste/wastewater, cooling tower pumps 

• Pulp and paper 

• Slurry 

• Pipeline, water-flood (injection) pumps 

• High-speed pumps.

covered in detail in subsequent topics.
